Juried Contest and Exhibition June 4, 2013 to June 29, 2013

Bigger is Better: Open Media – $100 1st Prize

The Harlingen Art Forum and D’Arte Centre Gallery issue a call to all artists for Bigger is Better: A Juried Show. All media are welcome, works must have been completed since January 1st 2013. Works should be a reflection of your interpretation of the theme; no sexually explicit or objectionable material. Works must be the original creation of the artist, signed and presentable in exhibition, i.e., gallery wrapped canvas, framed art, sculpture. Entries are due at D’Arte Centre Gallery in Harlingen Texas by May 25, 2013. Entries must be accompanied with the attached Entry Form and Jury Fee of $10.00 per piece. First prize of $100 will be awarded by the judges, other prizes may be awarded as entry fees allow. Two dimensional works may be any size EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN 864 square inches. (nominally 2 ft by 3 ft but any configuration is acceptable). Sculptural pieces must weigh less than 300 pounds but must exhibit at NO SMALLER than 24” x 36” x 36” (absolute height limit is 12 feet). They should be self supporting with no possibility of over balancing. Please indicate if display stand is required. Multimedia pieces must include all required audio visual equipment and be bounded by the sculptural sizes above. (A single electrical outlet will be provided for pieces requesting, as available.) Works should be for sale, D’Arte Centre Gallery will retain a 30% commission on all sales.

All works will be judged. Selection for exhibition will be at the discretion of the judge and Gallery Director of D’Arte Centre Gallery. Decisions of the judges or Gallery Director are final.

Works must be picked up after the exhibition between July 1st and July 13th. Works not picked up after July 13th will be considered abandoned-in-place and become the property of the Harlingen Art Forum to be disposed of as the Executive Board sees fit.

I understand that D’Arte Centre Gallery and the Harlingen Art Forum assume no responsibility for loss by damage, theft or other occurrence. I acknowledge that D’Arte Centre Gallery will retain 30% commission on sales and that artist payment for sales will occur in August 2013.
