Juried Contest and Exhibition May 1, 2012 to May 28, 2012

April Showers Bring May Flowers:

Open Media – $100 1^st Prize

The Harlingen Art Forum and D’Arte Centre Gallery issue a call to all artists for April Showers Bring May Flowers: A Juried Show. All media are welcome, works must have been completed since January 1^st 2012. Works should be a reflection of your interpretation of the theme; no sexually explicit or objectionable material. Works must be the original creation of the artist, signed and presentable in exhibition, i.e., gallery wrapped canvas, framed art, sculpture. Entries are due at D’Arte Centre Gallery in Harlingen Texas by April 28, 2012. Entries must be accompanied with the attached Entry Form and Jury Fee of $10.00 per piece. First prize of $100 will be awarded by the judges, other prizes may be awarded as entry fees allow. Sculptural pieces must weigh less than 200 pounds and be no larger than 36” x 36” x 60” and be self suppporting with no possibility of over balancing. Two dimensional works may be any size, but we encourage no larger than 36” by 60”. Multimedia pieces must include all required audio visual equipment and be bounded by the sculptural sizes above. (A single electrical outlet will be provided for pieces requesting, as available.) Works should be for sale, D’Arte Centre Gallery will retain a 30% commission on all sales.

All works will be judged. Selection for exhibition will be at the discretion of the judge and Gallery Director of D’Arte Centre Gallery. Decisions of the judges or Gallery Director are final.

Works must be picked up after the exhibition between June 1^st and June 16th. Works not picked up after June 16^th will be considered abandoned-in-place and become the property of the Harlingen Art Forum to be disposed of as the Executive Board sees fit.

Fiber Arts – Exhibition and Juried Competition

Congratulations to Janet Beard and Ferne Carr on their collaborative fiber arts piece Alone? They won first place in the competition.  Over one hundred votes were tallied over the Shop Hop weekend and the People’s Choice Award goes to Peggy Paris for Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow

Our wonderful new space is open to receive artists works beginning Friday October 1st.  We will be hanging the work throughout next week.

Classes are also resuming in early October.  Call D’Arte Centre at 956-425-4030 to find out the exact schedule and to sign up.
